The city of
Boulder is home to 7 high schools, two of which are charter schools
operating independently of the local school board, and one of which,
Halcyon, is a special education facility.
Founded in 1875 as a preparatory school for the University of
Colorado, Boulder High shares CU’s unique red flagstone
architecture and lives up to its slogan, “Still the
First,” as the first high school in Colorado.
Boulder High School has one of the most comprehensive Advanced
Placement programs in the state with almost 30 AP level
courses. Boulder High’s Academic Decathlon team has
taken the state title and represented Colorado at the national
competition for six straight years.
Fairview has enjoyed its academic rating as one of Colorado’s
top high schools according to the Colorado Student Assessment Program
(CSAP), which measures how well students are learning the required
curriculum. In addition to its renowned academic program,
Fairview has remarkable arts and athletics departments, not to mention
an outstanding view of the majestic Rocky Mountains.
