The majority of homes in Lafayette's Hearthwood neighborhood were built in the 1980s, but some are newer. Priced reasonably, Hearthwood is home to many families with children.
The community is situated very close to West S. Boulder Road and Highway 287, which allows for very quick and easy access to I-25 and the Boulder Turnpike (Highway 36).
Also nearby is Old Town Lafayette where several small restaurants and boutiques are located, easy access to the Regional Transportation District's (RTD) bus lines, and the Lafayette Public Library which is open every day of the week.
The Bob L. Burger Recreation Center is also close to the Hearthwood neighborhood. This recreation center was built in 1990, and cost almost $4 million to construct. Included are four fields for youth sports, an in-line hockey rink, classrooms, fitness and weightlifting areas, racquetball courts, a swimming pool, and much more.
