Established in 1958, Bow-Mar is a small, quite town that is home to approximately 900 residents. The town gets its name from the last names of two influential farmers that lived in the area during the early 19th century, John Bowles and John Marston.
Most homes located in Bow-Mar were built during the late 1960s to early 1970s, range from around 2000 to 4000 finished square feet, and are situated on large, spacious lots. The entire community sits on 512 acres of land, which includes many parks and walking paths. In addition, Bow-Mar maintains a public beach that hosts concerts, neighborhood events, and various recreational activities that are accessible to residents year-round.
