Denver’s Berkeley neighborhood is on the north side of Denver, and sits between Interstate 76, south of Interstate 70, Federal Boulevard, and Sheridan Boulevard. It is in area where Denver’s Elitch Gardens Amusement Park used to be located before it moved to Downtown Denver several years ago.
When Elitch Gardens moved, the Berkeley neighborhood fell upon hard times. However, more recently the community has come back to life due in part to the commercial development on Tennyson Street between 38th and 44th Avenues. On this stretch there are several art galleries, restaurants, bakeries, boutiques, and coffee shops.
Berkeley residents can enjoy several of the community’s nearby recreation areas such as Berkeley Lake Park, Willis Case Golf Course, Rocky Mountain Lake Park, Lake Rhonda, Regis University, and the Lakeside Center. It’s also located relatively close to Downtown Denver and an easy drive to Pena Boulevard – which is the main road to Denver International Airport.
The Berkeley community has an active neighborhood association and website which maintains a neighborhood business director, a calendar of community events, neighborhood pictures, and more.
