Five Points was named after the 5-way intersection at Welton, 27th Street, East 26th Avenue, and Washington Street - which sits inside of this community. Five Points is one of Denver's oldest neighborhoods and some of the city's oldest homes still exist here.
In the 1860s, Five Points was a predominant Denver city. However, after World War II, many of the homes and buildings in the community became run-down. However, the community is currently going through a type of rebirth due to the renovation of many of the community's old, historic Victorian homes, the expansion of Denver's Regional Transportation District's light rail into the community, and the development and expansion of Denver's Downtown area.
In addition to many renovated homes in Five Points, there are many new residential areas currently in development as well as the construction of several residential lofts in some of the community's older buildings.
