In 2007, Money Magazine voted Louisville, Colorado as one of the 10 best places to live in the United States. Likewise, Bert Sperling and Peter Sander’s book Best Places to Raise Your Family lists Louisville as #1! Therefore it should come as no surprise that Louisville is chock-full of history, activities, and recreational opportunities.
Here are some of the activities and attractions to be enjoyed in Louisville, Colorado:
Arts and Theater:
Every season, Coal Creek Community Theater performs plays and hosts other entertainment opportunities, such as talent shows and showcases for local playwrights. In addition, CCCT offers several children’s theater programs, with reasonable tuition costs and end performances.
The CenterStage Theatre Company is a youth theater company serving Louisville, Boulder, and the surrounding area. The organization puts on plays throughout the year, giving young aspiring actors the opportunity to explore their dreams. CenterStage also offers several summer camps and summer-long acting programs for young people.
Golf:
Located against a backdrop of the Flatiron Mountains, the Coal Creek Golf Course offers a unique Colorado golf experience. Play where you are surrounded by some of Colorado’s finest vistas. In addition, the Coal Creek Golf Course is geared toward a variety of skill levels, ensuring that every golfer will find his or her niche.
Although technically located in Lafayette, Indian Peaks Golf Course is only a few miles from the heart of Louisville. Like the Coal Creek Golf Course, this is an 18-hole course designed to meet the needs of golfers at all skill levels.
Located in Broomfield, the Omni Interlocken Resort Golf Club is a mere four miles from Louisville. The facility consists of three courses – Eldorado, Vista, and Sunshine – each a regulation 9-hole course. Like Coal Creek, Omni Interlocken is known for its panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains and the Front Range.

Louisville’s Parade of Lights offers more than just Christmas lights. Listen to live Christmas music, visit with Santa, and witness unique exhibits such as a living manger.
Held in early June, the Taste of Louisville gives everyone a chance to see just how fine life in Louisville can be. Enjoy dishes prepared by local restaurants, shop a selection of local crafts, and browse the booths of local merchants.

Harper Lake provides a place for boating and fishing, as well as a path for hiking and mountain biking.
Fish in the lake or hike or bike along the path at Louisville’s scenic Lake Park.
Museums:
Located in three historic buildings on Louisville’s Main Street, the Louisville Historical Museum focuses primarily on preserving the city’s coal mining history. The main building of the museum is the historic Jacoe Store. One of the other two buildings, the Tomeo House, reconstructs the typical coal miner’s living quarters.
